I believe that infants do best with strong routines (the order we do everything in). For example, our morning routine is the kids come in, parents talk to the teacher and put things in their cubby, and then we wave bye-bye, blow kisses and say “I love you,” to the parent.
Our feeding routine is we all wash our hands (wipe for small infants), and then begin eating/bottling in our usual eating area in our usual order.
Our sleep routine consists of rocking and singing each child’s special song, one at a time, and then singing one last song before turning on a sound machine and dimming the lights. It is a gentle training process to get to this point with all children and have it go smoothly, but within a few weeks of regular care they will be accustomed to this process.
